D.P. 'Vern' Vernazzarro has resigned from his position as Chairman of the GAMA Retailer Division. Just a couple of days ago, we received a statement from the Vice Chairman stating that the dispute resulting from Vernazzarro's election at the GAMA Trade Show in March (see 'GAMA Retailer Division Election Aftermath') had been resolved (see 'GAMA Retailer Division Dispute Resolved'). This was only a couple of days after GAMA sent out a lengthy statement to its members on the GRD election aftermath. Vernazzarro called that statement to the GAMA membership by John Kaufeld, the Vice Chairman of the GRD, 'slander' and said he was 'shocked' that GAMA released it in the industry newsletter. Vernazzarro also pushed back on the refusal of the GAMA board to seat him as the retailer representantive, saying that he '...cannot in good faith continue to serve with those that have such little regard for the rules of their own organization.' While Vernazzarro said that he felt that 'GAMA is a good organization,' he also urged members to 'take a good long look at what has happened.' See 'Vernazzarro Response to GAMA Retailer Division Brouhaha' for his full statement.
