The Alderac Entertainment Group (AEG) has released more details about its new collectible card game based on the Tokyopop property Initial D.  Initial D is a fast-paced anime/manga series (both available from Tokyopop) set in the high-speed world of Japanese street racing.   The story of a tofu delivery boy who manages to more than hold his own in the world of street racers in spite of his dowdy 1986 Toyota Corolla, Initial D has been a big hit in both Asia, where it has earned more than $300 million in revenue, and the U.S., where though only recently introduced, it ranked #33 in a recent Bookscan graphic novel bestseller list.

AEG's Initial D CCG, designed by David Williams (see 'Alderac Plans Initial D CCG'), will allow fans to extend Initial D's original storyline with multiple combinations of cars, race courses, and modifications.  Competitors can trick out their cars with cool mods and special tuner parts obtainable through various cards, and then prepare to race on one of the many tracks featured in the original anime series.  Once the racing starts, players use special action cards to out maneuver their opponents with awesome drifts and other gutsy moves that will leave their competition in the dust.

The Initial D CCG will hit retail in October.  Starter decks containing 55 cards, a set of rules, game counters, and a foil card will retail for $12.99, while 11-card booster packs, which also contain one special foil card, will be available for a retail price of $3.29.
