Fantasy Flight Games will release the new edition of the classic WWI dog-fighting board game Blue Max, produced by Italian game publisher Stratelibri, in March.
The new edition of Blue Max will feature new graphics by Kurt Miller and updated rules. Designed for two to six players, participants take the role of pilots for the Allies or Central Powers, and attempt to shoot down as many enemy planes as possible. The mechanics account for everything from altitude and individual aircraft maneuverability to fuel reserves, which makes the choice of which of the different airplanes a pilot chooses important.
The box contains a game board (with a map on each side), 6 player screens (3 per team), 18 maneuver charts, 18 plane cards, 144 small size cards, 3 punchboards with 168 cardboard pieces, 60 tracking sheets, 6 custom dice and a rulebook. The game is for 2 – 6 players, ages 12 and up, and plays in 60 – 90 minutes. MSRP is set at $49.95.
Stratelibri announced plans to release the new edition back in May (see "Stratelibri's 'Venetia'"), and in November, disclosed on their website that the English edition would be exclusively distributed by FFG.
