IDW Publishing will launch V-Wars, an ongoing comic series adaptation of the New York Times best-selling prose series by Jonathan Maberry, in May.
V-Wars is set in a world where a millennial-old virus causes a global pandemic, which affects individuals differently depending on their DNA. The resulting vampires are as unique as their cultural legends. "We went directly to the source: the myths and legends of vampires around the world and throughout history," said Maberry. "Old-school, scary, and complicated."
The V-Wars series will debut on Free Comic Book Day, with the first two issues releasing. V-Wars #0 will be a free offering at participating retailers, with a cover by Kevin Eastman (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles). V-Wars #1 will be available the same day, at standard pricing.
Art for the series will be done by Alan Robinson (Mars Attacks, KISS: Solo), with colorist Jay Fotos (Locke & Key).
