Marvel has settled on Anthony and Joe Russo, who directed Captain America: The Winter Soldier, to direct the third feature, according to Variety. The decision was made as a result of the studio’s reaction to the film’s production and test screenings, according to the report. The third Cap film has not yet been greenlit.
If the film is made, Chris Evans will star again as part of his six picture deal, and Kevin Feige will produce. The directors and Marvel are working on a story outline for the film.
With Marvel’s slate of untitled but claimed release dates (see "More Marvel Movie Moves"), and the fact that it took nearly four years between Captain America: The First Avenger and Winter Soldier (allowing for Marvel’s The Avengers and 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron), it’s a fair bet that Cap 3 will fit nicely in that May 5, 2017 "Untitled" spot on the chart.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier opens on April 4th (see "First 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' Trailer").
