Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming’s Powers, which has been in development for TV for years, has finally found home with the announcement that Sony’s PlayStation plans to enter the original programming derby by developing Powers as an hourlong drama. Sony TV has had Powers under development for years (see "FX Has the Rights to 'Powers'"), but the network rejected a pilot produced in 2011, while still expressing interest in the property (see "'Powers' Getting Reworked").
Now according to Deadline, Sony PlayStation has given the green light to new adaptation of this police procedural set in a world where superpowers are common written by Charlie Huston (Moon Knight).
It appears that just about everyone with a digital platform (and network of users) is getting into the "original programming" routine these days. Last year Microsoft’s X-Box announced that it would fund the production of a Halo dramatic series (see "Dark Horse to Publish Ongoing 'Halo: Escalation' Comic").
