Despite the fact that the movie won’t open domestically until May 2 (see "Final 'Amazing Spider-Man 2' Trailer"), preorder solicitations for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 on DVD and Blu-ray are already beginning to appear.  What’s making news is the $149.99 Deluxe Electro Collector’s Edition Blu-Ray package, which comes cased in the base of a giant blue Electro bust.  A release date and actual content information are not available.

As a standard CD/Blu-ray disc has a width of 12 cm, the bust could be conservatively estimated to be 30 cm tall, and roughly that wide at the base.  The side-view shows that the discs fit in a slot at the base of the neck.  With three discs of content pictured, perhaps it will contain those cut scenes of Mary Jane (see "Mary Jane Cut from 'Amazing Spider-Man 2'").

Also being solicited is the more conservatively priced The Amazing Spider-Man 2 3D/Blu-Ray/DVD/UltraViolet Combo Pack, at $45.99 SRP; and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (DVD/UltraViolet) at an SRP of $30.99.

Here’s hoping the marketing wizards at Sony don’t think they need separate collector bust cases for Venom and each of the Sinister Six Blu-ray releases (see "'Spidey' Spin-off Schedule Develops").  Check back next week, if they continue the trend toward aggressive advance solicitation, it will probably be showing up on retailer sites then.
