
Tim Burton’s latest film, Big Eyes, has been given a release date of Christmas Day 2014, according to /Film. Big Eyes tells the story of couple Walter and Margaret Keane, who were responsible for the paintings of big-eyed children that became popular in the middle of the last century; Walter took the credit, Margaret did the paintings. It has a big-time Oscar-bait cast: Amy Adams and Christoph Waltz play the leads.
Tentpole scribe David Goyer (Dark Knight trilogy, Man of Steel) has been signed to write a treatment for the James Cameron-produced remake of Fantastic Voyage, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Cameron has been associated with the project since 2009 (see "'Fantastic Voyage' Plus 'Avatar' Sequels"), and it even had a director in 2010 (see "'Fantastic Voyage' Gets a Director"). But now it seems like the producers are starting over, which may kickstart the project.
Tim Blake Nelson is joining the cast of Fox’s The Fantastic Four as scientist Harvey Elder, who will apparently convert to Mole Man later in the franchise, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The story of the first film will be an origin saga (see "'FF' Reboot Will Be Origin Story").
