Dynamite Entertainment has announced that writer Nancy Collins (see "Nancy Collins on 'Vampirella'") has picked a team of acclaimed writers for a collaborative Vampirella: Feary Tales series, to be launched as part of the ongoing 45th Anniversary of the character. Dynamite also shared information for the new Mercy Thompson comic series which was announced at Book Expo America in May (see "Dynamite Expands Literary Licenses with 'Shaft' and Sanderson").
The collaborative miniseries, which launches in October, will include work by Gail Simone, Stephen R. Bissette, Elmo Eklabuz, Ronilson Freire, Devin Grayson, Jack Jadson, Joe R. Lansdale, Elaine Lee, Stuart Moore, Steve Niles, John Shirley, Denis St. John, and Eric Trautmann. The series will see Vampirella trapped in an alternate dimension where a strange Storyteller drops her into classic tales of terror and whimsy.

The first issue will feature stories by Devin Grayson (Nightwing, Batman: Gotham Knights) and prose horror writer John Shirley in addition to Collins. Art will be provided by Jack Jadson, Ronilson Freire, and Elmo Eklabuz. The main cover for Issue #1 will be provided by Jay Anacleto (Warlord of Mars), with variant covers by Joe Jusko, Art Adams, Fabiano Neves, and a "Warren Years Homage" subscription cover by David Roach.
The new Mercy Thompson six issue miniseries written by author Patricia Briggs with Rik Hoskin, with art by Tom Garcia (Clive Barker’s Hellraiser), will be released on October 1st. The comic will be set within the official continuity of the novel series, but will feature a new story never told in any other medium. The "Hopcross Jilly" storyline will see Mercy and her pack embroiled in a mystery involving the deaths of several children, and the involvement of the legendary fae. Mercy’s step-daughter Jesse will also be a prominent character for the first time. Dynamite will release a black and white incentive cover in addition to the main cover.
