Marvel Comics has provided a first look at Death of Wolverine #3 by Charles Soule and Steve McNiven, which is due out in October. The Death of Wolverine #3 is the penultimate issue in the series, which got off to a great start this week, and is one of Marvel’s major editorial initiatives of the fall season (see "Wolverine Taking a Dirt Nap in September").
In issue #3, still bruised and beaten from his last battle, the once indestructible Wolverine returns to his Samurai roots in Japan with Kitty Pryde in tow. Seizing a chance to get revenge on the wounded Wolvie, Ogun returns for an epic battle, but who is the master puppeteer pulling the strings from behind-the-scenes, and who has put the bounty on Wolverine’s head?
The epic end of the world’s most famous X-Men is getting closer and closer. The Death of Wolverine #3 arrives in October with a standard cover by interior artist Steve McNiven, plus a special "Canada Variant" by McNiven, which uses the image from the standard cover but adds some maple leaves alluding to Logan’s Canadian origins, as well as an additional variant by Orlando Santiago.
Logan’s return to Japan coincides with the Cherry Blossom Festival, itself a reminder of the short fragile nature of life’s bloom (interior art).
More interior art as Wolvie and Kitty Pryde appear to be engaged in a very serious discussion.
