Pinnacle Entertainment Group will release a new science fiction roleplaying game The Last Parsec, which utilizes its Savage Worlds RPG system, in 2015. The game is currently seeking funding on Kickstarter.
The Last Parsec RPG requires the Savage Worlds core rules and the Savage Worlds Science Fiction Companion to play. Since the basic game rules already exist, and the Science Fiction Companion outlines races, technology, ships, and creatures, the first three The Last Parsec books, Leviathan, Scientorium, and Eris Beta-V, focus on settings and adventures. Each full-color, 96-page book contains detailed background on a system, planet, or other location, as well as any new Edges, Hindrances, Gear, Ships, or Setting Rules important to the area. Each book also contains a Plot Point Campaign, Savage Tales, and a Bestiary covering the strange creatures and characters players may encounter. The books will be available in Pinnacle’s "standard graphic novel" format in softcover. For the Kickstarter, a limited edition hardcover ($25.00 Retail) is being produced. It is unclear if that hardcover will be available to trade as well.
Other The Last Parsec products include a tri-fold GM Screen +Adventure, which includes The Last Parsec Primer and The Enigma Equation original adventure ($20.00), a Dropship and Freighter dry-erase, poster-size ship map ($15.00), the Pirate and Research Vessel dry-erase poster-size ship map ($15.00), and a Double Action Deck ($30.00). A miniatures pack, which included nine exclusive miniatures representing some of the most popular archetypes from the Savage Worlds Science Fiction Companion and The Last Parsec, was produced by Bronze Age Miniatures, and will include the aurax, construct, deader, male and female human, insectoid, kalian, Serran, and yeti miniatures.
The Kickstarter quickly passed its modest $8,000 goal, and has raised $39,310 from 421 backers ($93.37 average/backer) as of this writing, with 23 days to go. There is a "Rogue Trader" level available for brick and mortar retailers for multiple copies of the various books, GM screen and action deck. Backer fulfillment is estimated as May 2015, with trade release to follow.
In the Kickstarter statement, Pinnacle announced plans to produce a second wave of books and other material as well as an expanded setting book "sometime in 2015."
