New York Comic Con News: Vertigo has announced two new ongoing series from Gail Simone and Tim Seeley, debuting in 2015.
Gail Simone (Batgirl, Red Sonja) will team with artist Jon Davis-Hunt (2000 A.D., Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen) for the ongoing series Clean Room, a story of psychological horror, which launches in Spring 2015. The story follows reporter Chloe, who attempts to unravel the secrets of a new cult-like church run by Astrid Mueller, who promises to cure members of any disorders through a secret and expensive therapy technique. The cover for the first issue will be done by Jenny Frison (Revival, Red Sonja).
HACK/SLASH co-creator Tim Seeley’s new ongoing series Effigy will launch on January 28, and feature interior art by Marley Zarcone (Madame Xanadu, Blue Estate). Cover art for Effigy #1 will be done by Scott Forbes (Forgetless). The story follows former child-star Chondra Jackson as she returns to her hometown to find the bizarre mystery of a fresh body dumped in an ancient Indian burial site. Since the crime mirrors a plot on the children’s detective show she starred in, she investigates, and stumbles on a strange cult that worships celebrities as eternal effigies.
