Marvel Comics has announced that writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Andrea Sorrentino are resurrecting Old Man Logan, Mark Millar and Steve McNiven’s 2008 miniseries about an aging Wolverine, in a new Secret Wars-related Warzones comic book that is set to debut in May. McNiven, who did a superb job on the original Old Man Logan series, contributes a variant cover for the first issue of the new Old Man Logan Warzones comic.
Millar and McNiven’s 2008 miniseries was a fan favorite, the Marvel equivalent of Frank Miller’s saga of the aging Batman, The Dark Knight Returns. The chaos of Secret Wars where various temporal and spatial universes are intersecting provides the perfect excuse for bringing Old Man Logan back for one last trip through the Wastelands of Battleworld, where the landscape is dominated by victorious super villains, all of whom are in need of a good thrashing.
In addition to the new Old Man Logan Warzone series, Marvel has also announced a Planet Hulk #1 Warzone comic by Sam Humphries and Mark Laming that will debut in May. The new Planet Hulk series is set in Greenland, Battleworld’s barren northern region that is populated almost entirely by rampant and destructive Wild Hulks.
The other Warzone title announced by Marvel was Spider-Verse #1 from writer Mike Costa and artist Andre Lima Araujo. The book features six spider-powered heroes from various universes who are united on the surface of Battleworld where they face an uncertain and dangerous future.
