Space Goat Productions announced that Dave Olbrich has transitioned to the company’s recently announced comic book imprint, Space Goat Productions (see "Space Goat Productions Launches Print Comics") as Senior Vice President – Publishing & Business Affairs.
"We’re drawing a line between Space Goat Productions (the comic talent management operation) and Space Goat Publishing," Olbrich told ICv2. "My responsibilities will be changing 100% as I transition out of talent management and join the staffers dedicated to Space Goat’s publishing efforts."
Olbrich has been working on the business side of publishing for more than 25 years. He was a founding partner of Malibu Comics, which was eventually sold to Marvel Comics. He was also the founding publisher of Image Comics. Olbrich has been with Space Goat Productions since 2009 and a VP since 2012.
"Dave's been working behind-the-scenes with me on the launch of Space Goat Publishing from the beginning," said Space Goat CEO Shon Bury. "Space Goat's core mission has always been to find creators with a unique voice that isn't being heard yet. Dave has a successful track record of finding those kinds of creators."
"Shon and I have been talking extensively about the evolution of the comics market and the changes in the readership in recent years," Olbrich said. "The audience for the kinds of comics Space Goat will publish is growing, and I'll be working to streamline the ways we can reach readers and retailers."
