At the GAMA Trade Show, Japanime Games announced it will eliminate window box SKUs for its Krosmaster Arena collectible miniatures game, beginning with Season 3 releases in April. Existing window box SKUs from Season 1 and Season 2 will be discontinued.
"As of this week Japanime has discontinued Season 1 and Season 2 window boxes from the line," Japanime Marketing Manager Erica Gifford told ICv2. "By the end of the summer, they will be completely phased out. They are currently out of print in Europe, Asia and any other place that Krosmaster is currently published, so English is the only place you can get Season 1 figures right now." Japanime will be lowering the MSRP to $20.00 on all eight Season 1 SKUs.
Krosmaste Arena: Season 2 included eight window-box SKUs (see "'Krosmaster Arena' Winter Releases") which will also be eliminated. "Those will be going out of print at the end of the season," Gifford said. The 24-figure display blind box draft packs will be unaffected (see "'Krosmaster Quest,' 'Krosmaster Junior,' More").
Krosmaster Arena: Season 3 will be released in April worldwide (see "'Krosmaster: Season 3' and 'Tanto Cuore: Oktoberfest'"), and Season 4 will also see worldwide release in the fall. The figures will be released in 12-figure draft pack displays. Each season will include 16 figures, rather than the previous seasons’ 32 -34 figures. Rarity schemes will include 8 common and 8 uncommon figures. A 12 figure display will include all 8 commons, as well as half the uncommon figures.
Japanime hopes to increase draft format organized play with these changes, "Organized play is the heart of Krosmaster Arena," Gifford said. With two seasons releasing every year, "[t]his will increase the number of figures we can get out in a year and lower the MSRP of an entire season."
