Shi creator Billy Tucci told ICv2 that, starting in 2004, he would be publishing Shi under the Dark Horse banner.  Tucci said that Dark Horse had offered him a 'sweet deal,' and that he had reached a point in his career where he wanted to shed the duties of overseeing the marketing, shipping, and billing involved in self-publishing.  Publishing through Dark Horse will allow him to concentrate his time on creating his comic and polishing several screenplays, which he has been working on over the past few years.  Tucci told ICv2 that he had a good experience working with Dark Horse on a resin statue of Shi.  The limited edition statue became an almost immediate sell-out.  In addition to publishing the Shi comic, Tucci and Dark Horse are planning to release another Shi statue in 2004.

Tucci's short film, Some Trouble of a SeRRious Nature, was shown during Comic-Con, and Hollywood has shown renewed interest in Shi (see 'Shi Movie Rights Optioned Again').  Dark Horse, under the guidance of Mike Richardson (who has a slew of producing credits to his name), has had very successful track record in getting its projects produced in Hollywood.  Given Tucci's filmmaking ambitions, his move to Dark Horse appears to be an excellent fit.
