Warner Bros. has released a nearly-full version of its first Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer, after a bootleg version was posted on video sites Thursday night. Not all of the bootleg versions were taken down, and Warner Bros. finally released a legit version on Friday evening.
The original plan for the trailer release was carefully choreographed, with a trailer trailer released Thursday morning to build anticipation for the first theatrical showings of the trailer in select IMAX theaters on Monday (see “Batman v. Superman’ Teaser Trailer”).
The bootleg version looked to be shot with a cell phone, with bad sound and Portuguese subtitles, so Warners apparently decided it had to get a high quality version out. A Tweet from director Zack Snyder promised that the IMAX showings would still take place, with “a few extra shots plus a little swag.”
The film is due for release March 25 (see “Best in Shows—Q1 2016”).
