Designed by Glenn Drover, Empires:  Age of Discovery features a new board, new art by Cyril van der Haegen and Paul E. Niemeyer, and a rules update that includes input from the fan community.  The project was funded through Kickstater, attracting more than 1500 backers and pledges just over $200,000.

In Empires:  Age of Discovery, players assume control of a colonial European power competing for wealth and glory in the New World.  Over three “ages,” players launch expeditions to explore the new continent, establish colonies, grow their economy, and fight wars.

The new version includes all of the material from the original Age of Empires III, along with the Empires: Builder Expansion and the capitol buildings and “National Advantage” tiles.  The large box will include a 36” x 30” game board, more than 400 plastic miniatures and ships, and 100 replica doubloons and pieces of eight.  The game is for two to six players, ages 10 and up, and takes about half an hour per player to play.  MSRP is $129.99.
