Set in a Victorian steampunk era of space exploration, Mission: Red Planet creates a conflict between mining corporations seeking to exploit the planet Mars and its moon Phobos.  During the game, players explore the alien world, seeking the powerful fuel "celerium," the valuable ore "sylvanite," and of course water in the form of ice, critical to future colonization attempts.  The game features area control and hand management mechanics along with a secret action selection system in which players simultaneously choose from nine characters for each round, determining what actions the player has available.

The new edition expands the maximum number of players from five to six and introduces new two-player rules.  The "mission" and "discovery" cards have been revised and expanded, and the moon Phobos is added to the game, providing a new area for players to explore.

Mission:  Red Planet is for two to six players, ages 14 and up, and plays in about 90 minutes.  MSRP is $49.95.  The game will include 132 plastic astronaut pawns, 120 game cards, and more than 150 playing tokens.
