Marvel has announced its latest 'Must-Have' collection, which reprints the first three issues of the new Wolverine series by Greg Rucka and Darick Robertson. The first issue of the newly relaunched Wolverine series was the best-selling comic through Diamond in May. Marvel Must-Have: Wolverine #1-3 (JUN035056) collects the first three issues of the popular series in one 80-page Must-Have edition, which is scheduled to go on sale on August 13. Marvel has moved the shipdate of Wolverine #4 (JUN031600D4) back one week from August 20 to August 27 (final order cut-off August 7) in order to provide retailers with more time to gauge interest.
After criticism of Marvel's early Must-Have reprints because the books would include two disparate titles, Marvel has begun to bundle issues from the same series in its Must-Have collections (see 'Comic Book Sell-Outs Prompt Reprintings'). The new Wolverine Must-Have is innovative in two ways -- it is the first Marvel Must-Have to reprint three issues of the same comic series, and Marvel promises that it will remain in print as an 'evergreen' item to satisfy future reader demand. Keeping the Wolverine Must-Have in print like a $3.99 mini-trade paperback is a major change from the way Marvel has handled these Must-Have reprints in the past.
