Z-Man Games will release the English version of the first expansion for last year’s Spiel des Jahres winner Camel Up in September. In the same month, Z-Man will release two other English versions of internationally produced games Monster My Neighbor and Dark Stories.
Camel Up: Supercup expands the award winning game of desert camel racing to allow up to 10 players. The race track is extended by the addition of a game board extension, while additional dice allow for more movement options. Other elements of the expansion include new “Egyptian” betting rules and the addition of a sports photographer. Altogether, the expansion includes four “modules” that can be added to the game individually or combined with one another.
The box includes 1 game board extension, 5 wooden dice, 1 pedestal, 1 cardboard camera, 9 betting tiles, 1 pyramid tile, 2 desert tiles, 1 photographer tile, 10 betting cards, 10 partnership cards, 22 coins, and rules in both English and German. As an expansion, it requires the base game to play.
Camel Up won the Spiel des Jahres last yea (see “‘Spiel des Jahres 2014’ Winner Announced”) and the game appeared in the top 10 hobby board games chart over the 2014 holiday season (see “Top 10 Hobby Channel Board Games-Fall/Holiday 2014”).
Dark Stories is a revised version of 2004’s Black Stories. In this mystery-solving party game, players are presented with puzzling situations and must ask questions to get to the bottom of the story. Dark Stories is sold as a counter top display that includes six each of three different versions: Dark Stories, Dark Stories 2, and Dark Stories: Real Crime Edition. Each version includes 50 different stories for players to riddle over. The game is for two or more players, ages 13 and up. MSRP is $179.99 per display (about $10 per game). Pesu Nabeno’s party game Monster My Neighbor will also release in September. Players use their cards to try to figure out which one of them is secretly the “monster,” who in turn attempts to bluff and remain hidden until the last hand is played. The game includes 38 cards and 40 vp tokens. The game is for 3 - 8 players, ages 7 and up, and plays in about 20 minutes. MSRP is $19.99.
