The comic follows covert U.S. Marshal Wynonna Earp, the great-granddaughter of  famous lawman Wyatt Earp, as she tracks down redneck drug-running vampires, immortal desperadoes, bounty-hunting biker werewolves, and even an ancient mummy hitman.  The TV series is described as a cross between Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Justified.

The 13-episode supernatural drama series will star Melanie Scrofano (Damien, Ganland Undercover) as Wynonna, and Tim Rozen (Being Human, Instant Star) as the legendary con artist Doc Holliday.  Shamier Anderson (Defiance, Constantine), will play the mysterious Agent Dolls. The series was developed for television by Emily Andras (Lost Girl, Killjoys), who will serve as showrunner and executive producer.  Production will begin in August.

IDW launched its entertainment division in 2013 (see “IDW Launches TV Development Division”).
