Dark Horse has obtained rights to the first new original work in over 20 years by Berserk creator Kentaro Miura:  Giganto Maxia.  The first volume of the science fiction/fantasy manga will be released on February 3, 2016.

The story is set 100 million years after the Great Destruction, with humans, demihumans, and massive creatures fighting for survival in the wastelands, where the Empire of Olympus is using colossal beasts to crush their adversaries.

Berserk has been an impressive seller for Dark Horse, which obtained the rights in 2003 (see “Dark Horse to Publish ‘Berserk’”), and brought all the volumes back into print in 2013 (see “Interview with Dark Horse Manga Editor Carl Horn”).  There are currently 37 volumes available.  Both the anime series and features were released for home video in North America.  The OAVs are currently available from Viz Media  (see “Viz Nabs ‘Berserk’ Anime Movies”).
