Noelle Stevenson’s Nimona has been nominated for the prestigious National Book Awards; it made the longlist in the ‘Young People’s Literature’ category.
The book was one of ten titles nominated in the category, and only three other graphic novels have ever been named finalists in the young adult category. Last year, Roz Chast’s Can’t We Talk About Something More Pleasant? was the first graphic novel to be nominated in an adult category (see “'Can't We Talk About Something More Pleasant?' Nominated”). Finalists for the awards will be announced on October 14, and winners will be announced on November 18.
The book is based on Stevenson’s web comic, which was nominated for an Eisner Award for Best Digital/Web Comic (see “The 2015 Eisner Award Nominees”).
The book is published Harper Teen/HarperCollins Children’s Books and was recently optioned for a movie (see “Noelle Stevenson's 'Nimona' Optioned”).
