Minotaur Games is releasing a new card game, Pirate Loot. This is the first board game released by Minotaur, which has previously focused primarily on RPG supplements. Minotaur is offering store owners a retailer kit which contains exclusive cards and rules for running tournaments and store events.

Designed by Pathfinder RPG lead designer Jason Bulmahn, Pirate Loot is a fast-paced card game where players recruit a variety of pirates to their crew in an attempt gather more loot than their rivals. Intended as a fast-paced parlor game, it features the fun and whimsical art of Scott Kurtz (PvP) and Dylan Meconis (Outfoxed) (see "2011 Harvey Nominations" and "The 2012 Eisner Award Nominees", respectively). The base game supports 2-4 players (MSRP $19.99), and an expansion adds two new pirate factions, and allows the game to be played by 6 players (MSRP $11.99). Pirate Loot and Pirate Loot: 6-player Expansion are both scheduled for a November release.

A Minotaur Games representative told Icv2 that the kit contains three sets of six Port cards unique to the promotion.

Both the game and its expansion were funded through a successful Kickstarter campaign which raised $56,435 from 1,407 backers ($40.11/backer average). Bulmhan's Pathfinder remains popular; its newest campaign setting, Inner Sea Faiths, is releasing in March 2016 (see "Harness New Divine Powers for 'Pathfinder'").
