The new limited-series revival of the cult-hit Twin Peaks may now debut in 2017, Variety is reporting.

The Showtime series sequel was set to premiere in 2016, since it would mark the 25th year since David Lynch and Mark Frost’s ABC show ended (see "Showtime 'Twin Peaks' Revival Lives On").  However, CBS Corp. chief Leslie Moonves shared in a third-quarter earnings conference call that the date had been bumped to 2017, since it would probably drive subscriptions of the Showtime Networks’ new standalone broadband offering.  (The Showtime Networks are a corporate division of CBS Corporation.)

Later, a Showtime representative said a late 2016 premiere may still be possible.
