The adaptation of Beau Smith’s Wynonna Earp will star Melanie Scrofano as the title character, and the show will debut in April 2016, according to CBR. The show will consist of 13 one-hour episodes. Emily Andras (Lost Girls, Killjoys) will be the show’s showrunner and executive producer.
The synopsis indicates the show is sticking fairly close to the source material (see “Beau Comic Gets TV Deal”): After years on the run and in juvenile detention, Wynonna Earp is finally coming home. The only problem is no one back home wants her to return. But when she becomes the town's only hope of eradicating mysterious demons, Wynonna must choose which side of the law she wants to fight on in order to clear the name of her legendary great grandfather Wyatt Earp once and for all.
At New York Comic Con, IDW announced a new Wynonna Earp comic releasing in February (see “'Dark Jem,' 'Mars Attacks' Returns, 'Best of DC War,' More”).
