Locust Moon is currently seeking funding on Kickstarter to print the book. The project, launched today, includes a retailer level.
Recently, New Jersey artist and antique collector Joseph Getsinger acquired an enormous collection of 1930s-era cartoon printing plates, which included two strips penned by a teenage Will Eisner under pen names Carl Heck and Willis B. Rensie (Eisner spelled backwards). The two early comics, Uncle Otto and Harry Karry, represent the earliest known sequential artwork of Will Eisner, who would go on to create The Spirit, A Contract with God, and numerous other groundbreaking comics and graphic novels. The 80-page, 6.5” x11", black and white hardcover will include a color section, and features an introduction by Denis Kitchen. MSRP is $25.00. Release is planned for July.
Locust Moon Press is the publisher behind last year’s Harvey and Eisner-winning Winsor McCay tribute: Little Nemo: Dream Another Dream (see “'Little Nemo: Dream Another Dream'” and “Review: 'Little Nemo: Dream Another Dream' HC”). It also partnered with the Philadelphia Museum of Art to produce Prometheus Eternal (see “'Prometheus Eternal' One Shot”).
