According to THR, Tomorrow Studios has optioned the movie, which starred Chris Evans, John Hurt, Jamie Bell, Tilda Swinton, Octavia Spencer and Ed Harris in a post-apocalyptic saga about a group of survivors on a massive train that continuously circles the globe (see “'Snowpiercer' GN Releases for Movie”). The film was directed by Bong Joon-ho, and made $86.8 million worldwide.
In addition to his TV credits, Friedman wrote War of the Worlds (2005) and the upcoming Avatar 2 and 3 (see “'Avatar' Sequels to Start Shooting Fall 2014”).
Bong and Snowpiercer co-producer Dooho Choi are attached to executive produce. Tomorrow’s Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements will also have producer credits.
There is plenty of source material left to mine; Titan Comics will be releasing the English edition of the third graphic novel in the series in February (see “'Snowpiercer Vol. 3: Terminus'”).
