Dreamwave Productions has announced that the first issue of its Duel Masters comic title, with story by Brian Augustyn and pencils by Jeremy Tiongson, will be released in November. It will feature five different covers, with Pat Lee contributing art, and will be polybagged with five different inserts, as yet unannounced but presumably including at least one card from the Wizards of the Coast Duel Masters CCG.
This is the first announced release date for the U.S. release of a Duel Masters product, but it will be followed by many others as the full roll-out of this major property continues (see 'Duel Masters -- New WotC CCG, Dreamwave Comic'). It's co-owned by Wizards of the Coast, Mistui Kids Station and Shogakukan. It will be interesting to see if Viz, which is partially owned by Shogakukan, will release the Duel Masters manga in the U.S., complementing the North American comic by Dreamwave.
