Scheduled to release in March, Pretense was designed by Jason Tagmire (Maximum Throwdown - see “AEG Readies a Trio of New Card Games”). In this party game about gaming, players try to complete their secret goals over the course of their regular game night, while trying to keep their goal secret from the other player. Pretense is played without turns, rounds, or time limits, instead players score points whenever their goal is accomplished. The player with the most points at the end of the game wins.Pretense is for 2 to 12 players, ages 14 and up. MSRP is $9.99.
David J. Mortimer’s (Flock—see “Feather the Nest with ‘Flock’”) Twilight Squabble promises to recreate the entire Cold War in 10 minutes. In this two player card game, players assume control of the world’s superpowers, trying to shift the Balance of Power while undermining their rival. But care must be taken to avoid Mutually Assured Destruction. Release is planned for April.The box contains 47 cards, 9 wooden cubes and a rulebook. MSRP is $14.99.
