Vital Lacerda has updated his award-winning viniculture board game Vinhos in a new Deluxe edition, which will be produced by Eagle-Gryphon Games, with release scheduled for Q3.

Named for the Portuguese word for “wines”, Vinhos explores the economics of wine-making.  Players must develop their vineyards in order to produce better wines and maximize their profits.

The new edition includes significant reworking, based on feedback from fans of the game since its initial release in 2010.  The designer explained in a press release that he “knew I had to make modifications to the rules and board complexity while at the same time I had to deliver the same deep and complex game players have known.”  In addition to the updated rules, a simplified version of the game is also included.  The additional feature required adding a few additional components and a double-sided game board.  Two game expansions, Advertisers and Madeira Island have also been added to the box.

Vinhos Deluxe will feature new artwork by Ian O’Toole (The Gallerist, A Study in Emerald).  The game will include a double-sided game board, 304 tiles, 120 wooden pieces, 18 cards, 2 rulebooks, 4 player boards, and a reference book.  MSRP is $79.99.

Eagle-Gryphon has launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund the project, which exceeded its funding goals within five hours and more than doubled it in the first day.  Eagle-Gryphon is also offering a pre-order opportunity for retailers during the Kickstarter campaign.  Fulfillment is planned for Q3, with trade release to follow.

Eagle-Gryphon also plans to release Galactic Rebellion in the third quarter (see “Eagle-Gryphon Launches ‘Galactic Rebellion’”).
