Dynamite Entertainment announced Matt Wagner will be returning to write and draw a new pulp tale for The Shadow.

Wagner (Mage, Grendel, The Spirit) previously wrote Dynamite’s new origin story for the pulp hero (see “Matt Wagner Writing 'The Shadow: Year One'”) as well as scripting and drawing the Grendel/Shadow crossover (see “Matt Wagner to Write & Draw 'Grendel/The Shadow' Crossover”). Now he will both write and illustrate the new six-issue series The Death of Margo Lane, which launches on June 1. In addition to the main series cover, Issue #1 will feature a classic black and white film noir variant.

“I've been a huge fan of The Shadow since my early teens and I just had to come back to the character by both writing and drawing this exciting and critical storyline,” said Wagner. “The Death of Margo Lane is a series that will challenge The Shadow on many levels… and leave him changed in ways he had never expected.”

Margo Lane has been The Shadow’s “friend and companion” for many years, but what cost will living so close to the dark and violent night world take on her? What effect will her loss have on the Master of Darkness?
