The American Library Association (ALA) has released a new list of the ten most frequently challenged books for 2015, which includes two acclaimed graphic novels.
The list is released by the ALA’s Office of Intellectual Freedom as part of the group’s annual State of America’s Libraries Report. The two graphic novels that made this year’s list include Fun Home by Alison Bechdel and Habibi by Craig Thompson.
According to the ALA report, reasons given for banning Fun Home included: violence and other (“graphic images”). Habibi’s objections included: nudity, sexually explicit, and unsuited for age group.
