Alden Ehrenreich is in final negotiations to play the young Han Solo for the second of Disney’s stand-alone Star Wars anthology films, Deadline is reporting.

Ehrenreich (Hail Caesar!, Beautiful Creatures) will star in the film which covers Solo’s life before events that happened in A New Hope (see “Han Solo, Solo in 2016?”). The film, currently titled Han Solo: A Star Wars Story, is in preproduction, with directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller at the helm, with release planned for May 2018.

Miller celebrated Wednesday’s “May the 4th” Star Wars  Day by Tweeting a picture of Solo’s iconic blaster with the caption “Can't wait to get ‘shooting’!”

A Han Solo comic miniseries, set between A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back was recently announced by Marvel (see “Star Wars 'Han Solo' Comic Series Announced”).
