In February, the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund (CBLDF) announced it was moving from New York City to Portland, Oregon later this year. Now the organization has opened its archives to release numerous art sketches and prints for auction on eBay.

Among the high-end items up for bid are an original, signed pencil sketch from Terry Moore’s Strangers in Paradise,  Nick Dragotta’s Marvel Sentry “BN” original art sketch, a self-portrait art sketch of Erik Larsen (Savage Dragon), and a Stephen Colbert’s Tek Jansen art stetch by Robbi Rodriguez (Spider-Gwen).  The first few items are scheduled to end on Tuesday evening, but more will be added to the fund-raiser in the next few days (links provided in hopes readers will be generous in their bidding to CBLDF).

The CBLDF will be joining Portland-based Corporate Members Dark Horse, TFAW.com, Oni Press, and Image Comics partner studio Shadowline Comics in the emerging comic mecca. The CBLDF said the relocation will help the organization significantly reduce operating expenses, while improving proximity to industry partners on the West Coast.

“The Fund thrives when we are near to our industry partners and can engage with a dedicated and diverse pool of volunteers, thriving talent scenes, and, above all else, a community that will benefit from and support our work.“ CBLDF President Larry Marder said in the February announcement. “Portland abounds in all of those areas. We look forward to being of service to the city’s community and to working with them to continue developing our ongoing program work in support of the freedom to read comics.”
