Waypoint Entertainment has acquired feature film rights to Image series Plutona, by writer Jeff Lemire and artist Emi Lenox.  Waypoint’s Ken Kao (The Nice Guys) will produce with partner Dan Kao and Addictive Pictures’ Russell Ackerman and John Schoenfelder under their first-look deal. 

Waypoint also acquired two Mark Millar properties recently (see “’Supercrooks’ and ‘American Jesus’ Optioned by Waypoint”).  

The five issue miniseries launched last September with solid comic store orders of 25,690 (see “Top 300 Comics – September 2015”) and finished in June (after long gaps before the last two issues) with orders of 12,197 (see “Top 300 Comics – June 2016”).

The coming of age story follows a group of kids who find the body of a famous superhero in the woods. 

Image is publishing a trade paperback edition ($16.00) and a limited edition hardcover ($39.99) this month.
