Papercutz has announced the September release of Lunch Witch #2: Knee-Deep in Niceness, the graphic novel sequel to children's book author Deb Lucke’s 2015 original Lunch Witch graphic novel which made the School Library Journal’s list of “Best Graphic Novels for Kids” in 2015 (see "Top Graphic Novel Lists of 2015 Round-Up"). The formula of "Lunch Lady" humor with a twist of fantasy appears to be working, the first Lunch Witch volume has already sold over 10,000 copies, and Lunch Witch #2: Knee-Deep in Niceness will come with a scratch-and-sniff panel that smells like bacon should appeal to the books target demographic.
The Lunch Witch series follows the adventures of Grunhilda, a witch with a terrible affliction—she has a soft spot for a girl named Madison that she has to hide from her familiars (see "Papercutz Announces More Releases"). The first volume in the series was a lengthy (for a kids’ GN) 180 pages, and Lunch Witch #2: Knee-Deep in Niceness, which will have a cover price of $14.99, is a substantial 164 pages.
