According to Variety, Dungey told the critics, that while there is nothing official yet, talks with Lucasfilm are “ongoing,” “It’s all a little bit hush-hush. That company (Lucasfilm) exists under a big shroud of secrecy. If you feel Marvel is secretive, Lucas(film) takes it to a whole other level. (Talks) are ongoing. We don’t really have an official timeline yet.”
There are currently two Star Wars animated TV series, Star Wars Rebels, which takes place in the years between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, and Lego Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures, which occurs between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Since Disney and Lucasfilm are closely coordinating (or one might say “juggling”) two different Star Wars movie franchises (see “The Core Star Wars Movies Will Chronicle the Skywalker Family”) as well as the two animated series, a live-action Star Wars TV series would have to find a narrative niche in the Star Wars timeline.
