Barnes & Noble announced Tuesday that its board had determined that CEO Ronald D. Boire was “not a good fit for the organization and that it was in the best interests of all parties for him to leave the Company.” Boire joined the company last July and was in place just a little over a year (see "Barnes & Noble Hires New CEO"). Boire’s background included no book experience; most recently he’d run Sears Canada.
Executive Chairman and company founder Leonard Riggio, who’d announced that he was retiring this fall (see "Barnes & Noble Founder Leonard Riggio Retiring"), will delay his retirement until a replacement is found and will assume, along with other B&N execs, Boire’s duties.
