The film, which stars Ben Winchell as Max McGrath, has been in development for a while (see “'Max Steel' Movie Casts Teen Heroes”). Max and his alien companion Steel must harness the new powers he is gifted with, and combine to evolve into the turbo-charged superhero Max Steel.

Mattel’s Max Steel toy franchise has been the #1 toy property in Latin America for over a decade, a success that was the impetus behind Mattel’s re-launch of the property here in the States, which included an animated TV series and graphic novels from VIZ Media.

The film releases in theaters on October 21.
