This December, Marvel Comics is publishing a special benefit book featuring Spider-Man and The Incredible Hulk, with all proceeds going to the ACTOR (A Commitment To Our Roots) Comic Fund, a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to helping comic book creators in need.  The 32-page comic ($2.50) features a cover by Joseph Michael Linsner and interior art by Dan Jurgens (Spider-Man) and Dave Simons (Hulk).  William Messner-Loebs wrote the Hulk story, while Ron Marz is responsible for the Spider-Man story.

Marz summed up the reasons he wanted to work on the pro-bono project, 'Nobody in this industry should forget that we stand on the shoulders of those who came before us, not just the Stan Lees, the Jack Kirbys, and the Steve Ditkos, but hundreds of others who served in the trenches of the industry we all love.'  Retailers can also play a major role in making sure this project is a successful fund raiser for previous generations of creators, who helped make the comic book a major force in popular culture.
