Marvel has announced both Karen Page and Misty Knight will be reprising their roles in the upcoming Netflix limited series The Defenders.  It also announced Jessica Jones director S.J. Clarkson will be helming the first two episodes of the superhero team-up.

Karen Page, played by Deborah Ann Woll, is Nelson and Murdock’s secretary who becomes a reporter later in the Marvel’s Daredevil series.  Woll will also be playing the character in the upcoming Marvel’s Punisher series (see “Marvel's 'The Punisher' Expands Its Cast”).

Misty Knight, played by Simone Missick, was a Harlem police detective in Marvel’s Luke Cage.  In the comics, Knight becomes a freelance member of the Defenders.  It has not been confirmed if she will also be appearing in Marvel’s Iron Fist (see “Netflix Releases New NYCC 'Iron Fist' Trailer”).

S.J. Clarkson directed the Jessica Jones episodes “AKA Crush Syndrome” and “AKA Ladies Night” as well as episodes of Heroes, Dexter, Bates Motel, and Orange is the New Black.  In addition to directing the first two episodes, Clarkson will also serve as an Executive Producer on the first episode.

Marvel’s The Defenders follows Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist as they unite for a common goal – saving New York City.  It is the story of four solitary heroes, burdened with their own personal challenges, who find they might be stronger together.
