Kurt Sutter, the prolific creator behind the Sons of Anarchy and Bastard Executioner television shows, will create Sisters of Sorrow, an all-new comic series from BOOM! Studios.

Sisters of Sorrow follows four women who work as community activists in Los Angeles during the day and don bulletbroof black leather and white habits to exact revenge at night. “Yep, nuns with guns, baby,” Sutter exclaims.

The comic will debut at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2017. Details on the creative team are pending.

Sutter previously oversaw the Sons of Anarchy comic series with BOOM!. Sisters of Sorrow is Sutter’s second original series with the publisher, following the well-reviewed Lucas Stand, which was co-written by Caitlin Kittredge and drawn by Jesus Hervas.

Sutter is also developing Mayans MC, a spinoff of Sons of Anarchy, for television (see “Mid-May Geek TV Round-Up: 'Supergirl' & 'Riverdale' to the CW”).
