Gamelyn Games will release the new sandbox adventure game Tiny Epic Quest in 2017.
Tiny Epic Quest is the latest “Tiny Epic” game designed by Scott Almes (Tiny Epic Kingdoms, Tiny Epic Galaxies). In this micro-sized fantasy adventure, players take the role of a band of elves traveling the vast world to fight goblins, complete quests, learn spells, and acquire powerful magic items. The world is laid out in 17 different map cards, which change every game. The game also features custom meeple tokens which can be hold various pieces of equipment. Players travel via a limited-action-selection system which offers five forms of grid-movement, though they are limited to using only four types of movement per round. Players move to acquire magical items, complete quests, and fight goblins. There are also puzzles on three public quest cards that can be used by the first player to complete their requirements. There is also a “night” phase to every round, where players roll dice in a communal press-your-luck fashion to complete the quests from the “day” phase. After five rounds, the game ends and whoever has the most points from killing goblins, learning spells, accomplishing quests, and acquiring legendary items wins.
The game is for 1 – 4 players, ages 14 and up, and plays in 30 – 45 minutes. The box contains 12 ITEMeeples, 24 Pieces Of ITEMeeples Equipment (Sword, Shield, Staff, Etc.), 1 Cardboard Item Rack, 5 Custom Engraved Dice, 4 Wood Heart Tokens, 4 Wood Power Tokens, 4 Wood Fairy Tokens (One For Each Player), 1 Wood Active Player Token, 1 Wood Round Tracker Token, 4 Cardboard Max Health Trackers, 4 Cardboard Max Power Trackers, 16 Cardboard Goblin Tokens, 5 Movement Cards, 4 Adventure Cards, 24 Quest Cards, 1 Round/Score Card, 1 Magic/Spell Card, 4 Player Cards, 17 Double-Sided Map Cards and a rulebook. MSRP is $25.00. Tentative trade release is September 1.
The game was funded with a recent Kickstarter which raised $589,816 from 17,152 backers (average $34.38 / backer). Backer fulfilment is planned for August.
