Robinson is most known for his work on Batman, and he played a key role in the creation of Robin and the Joker. Robinson’s memoir features never-before-published artwork from his time illustrating Batman, Robin, the Joker, and more. The 192-page full-color hardcover will be in stores May 31. MSRP is $34.99.
Robinson passed away in 2011 (see “RIP Jerry Robinson”). He was discovered in 1939 at the age of 17 by Batman creator Bob Kane. Robinson started his career as an inker and letterer, eventually moving on to pencil the Caped Crusader and his rogue’s gallery.
Robinson also drew newspaper strips and political satire, served as the president of the National Cartoonists Society, and he wrote several books on comics. Robinson was also a staunch defender of creators’ rights, supporting Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster in their fight over the rights to Superman.
