Viz has announced the acquisition of the Kaikan Phrase manga series by Shinju Mayu, which it will release under the English title Sensual Phrase.  The story of a J-Pop band named Lucifer, the manga is full of drop-dead gorgeous bishounen characters, although the primary relationship in the series is between the band's lead singer and a female lyricist.  The Kaikan Phrase manga, which appeared in the often steamy Sho-Comi anthology magazine, is the manga equivalent of a 'romance' novel with at least one sex scene per volume (except for Vol. #1).  Viz will rate the series as '17+' when it issues the first volume in March at $9.95. 

The Kaikan Phrase anime series concentrates much more on the relationships between the members of the band -- Aine, the key female character in the manga series, doesn't even appear in the anime until episode #22.  But the focus of the manga is clearly on the relationship between Aine and the Sakuya, Lucifer's lead singer -- and Viz is clearly hoping that the passionate romance between Aine and Sakuya will find favor with female readers in their late teens, who will learn to enjoy getting their 'romance' fix in manga form.
