The volume of merchandise associated with Dragon Ball Super, the new manga and anime series continuing the story of the long-running hit, is about to increase, with new licensees announced and more on the way.  Toei and Funimation, who are collaborating on Dragon Ball Super licensing in the U.S., announced three new apparel licenses with numerous product categories involved. The companies described the licenses as the “first in a series of licensing announcements.”

Bioworld will release apparel and accessory collections for Dragon Ball Super and Dragon Ball Z, including t-shirts, fashion cut and sew tops, bottoms, skirts, dresses, leggings, sweaters, hoodies, vests, jackets and more. 

Great Eastern will release themed apparel collections for Dragon Ball Super and Dragon Ball Z, including t-shirts, cut and sew tops, jackets, hoodies, sweatshirts, pajama onesies and lounge pants in both adult and children's sizes.

And helping to keep the older franchise current, JCorp will release Dragon Ball Z apparel including men's sleepwear and loungewear, men's / boy's swimwear, t-shirts, tank tops, muscle tops, hoodies, popovers, active wear, shorts, joggers, and jackets; and ladies' and girls' long and short sleeve t-shirts, fashion tops, hoodies, popovers, leggings, and joggers.

This all started with the launch of the Dragon Ball Super anime on Toonami in January (see “’Dragon Ball Super’ Comes to Toonami”), giving the property a prominent television platform, a rare situation for anime these days.  The manga will launch in May (see “ICv2 Interview:  Viz Media’s Kevin Hamric”).  And the Dragon Ball Super Card Game will debut in July from Bandai (see “The Dragon Ball Universe Returns in New TCG”).
