Atomic Blonde is based on The Coldest City graphic novel by Antony Johnston and Sam Hart, which was published by Oni Press in 2012 (see “Geek Film/TV News Round-Up”).
Set in November 1989, the story follows British Agent Lorraine Broughton (Theron) who is sent alone to Berlin to recover a list containing names of British agents which was lost when an MI6 agents was killed in the city. The city is destabilizing with the collapse of Communism and the intelligence community is a powder keg ready to blow. Broughton must work with station chief David Percival (James McAvoy) to navigate her way through the deadly network of spy games to retrieve the list.
The movie opens in theaters on July 28 (see “Best in Shows--Q3 2017”).
