Toy and game company Spin Master has acquired the game business of Marbles, which is currently in bankruptcy proceedings.  Marbles’ titles include the games Otrio, Rock Me Archimedes, Oh Snap!, Newton, and The Sherlock.  The acquisition includes all of Marbles’ proprietary and licensed games, warehoused inventory, and the Marbles name and website.

Marbles focused on games with brain benefits with coffee table-worthy style.

The purchase prices was $2.5 mllion, according to bankruptcy court filings.

The purchase did not include any of Marbles’ retail assets; the company had 37 stores at the time it filed for bankruptcy in February after a tough holiday season.

Spin Master has quietly been acquiring a global games portfolio.  It purchased Cardinal Industries in 2015, and Editrice Giochi in 2016.  It is now one of the top three U.S. manufacturers in the Games and Puzzles supercategory, according to the company.
